Allstate suffers $1.5bn gross hit from May surge in storm activity

US P&C market leader Allstate suffered its biggest monthly cat loss tally in recent history at nearly $1.5 billion in gross losses across 14 events, bringing the year-to-date total to $2.62 billion.
