As re/insurance broker Alwen Hough Johnson (AHJ) launches an ILS-focused broking unit, Martin Davies, chief executive at AHJ Capital Markets, talks to Intelligent ILS about entering the sector and learning lessons from the secondary trading market.
In November, 2014, independent re/insurance broker, Alwen Hough Johnson (AHJ), launched an insurance-linked securities (ILS) unit in response to client demand.
Headed by industry veteran Martin Davies, AHJ Capital Markets will help insurers to manage risk through reinsurance backed by ILS and to finance risk through debt and equity capital.
Davies, who joined the company in September from his previous role as CEO of Towers Watson Capital Markets, has extensive knowledge of the sector having been involved, particularly within Europe, for nearly two decades. He also held positions at Citibank and Sedgwick.
