Ascot launches marine and energy treaty reinsurance business

Specialty re/insurer Ascot has tapped Validus Re and Lancashire to launch a marine & energy treaty reinsurance business.

Alex Kirkby has joined Ascot as senior vice president, head of marine & energy, Bermuda. He is supported by Emma Foxley as vice president, marine and energy, Bermuda.

Kirkby, who was vice president at Validus Re, will be responsible for underwriting marine, energy and composite business. He joins Ascot with more than a decade of experience in the marine & energy space. Prior to Validus, he spent time at both PartnerRe and Willis Re.

Foxley joins from Lancashire Insurance Group, where she worked as an underwriter in the specialty reinsurance segment. Prior to Lancashire, she worked as a portfolio analyst at Markel CATCo Investment Management. She has spent her insurance career in Bermuda developing and deepening key relationships with clients across the region.
