Brutal 2025 weather leaves Australian insurers with record $2.3bn bill

A brutal year of extreme weather pushed Australia’s insured losses to nearly A$3.5 billion ($2.3 billion) in 2025, a steep jump from the year before, with late-spring hailstorms inflicting some of the heaviest damage, the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has revealed.
