Caribbean severe hurricanes nearly double as insurers face growing exposure

The Caribbean has seen a sharp increase in the frequency of severe hurricanes with Category 3, 4 and 5 storms striking the region 31 times between 2016 and December 31 2025, compared with 16 in the previous decade.
