Cincinnati’s Q2 underwriting slips into red as commercial sours
Cincinnati swung to a fractional Q2 underwriting loss on a 5.9 point rise in its combined ratio to 100.8% on the trifecta of higher cats, higher attritional losses and a lower boost from reserve releases, all focused in its commercial business, then made it all go away by the bottom line with a massive increase in investment earnings.
