Exclusive: ASR CEO maps the road to Africa’s top two with new syndicate launch

Africa Specialty Risks (ASR) has fired the starting gun on its bid to become “the second largest reinsurer in Africa” within 12–24 months, senior executives told Intelligent Insurer during an exclusive interview at the group’s new Sandton offices in Johannesburg. The launch of Syndicate 2454 is central to that ambition, giving South Africa access to AA-rated, Lloyd’s-backed capacity for the first time on the continent.
