AIG appoints new general counsel from Stripe
American International Group (AIG) has recruited a new general counsel to lead legal, compliance, and regulatory functions, as well as government affairs for the company. The executive has served as a director on the board of Corebridge, and also worked at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Patricia (Trish) Walsh will join AIG as executive vice president and general counsel, effective December 1, 2023. Walsh will report to Peter Zaffino, AIG chairman and chief executive officer, and serve on AIG’s executive leadership team.
Rose Marie Glazer will remain interim general counsel until Walsh officially starts at AIG.
Walsh joins AIG from payment processing firm Stripe, where she held the position of general counsel and corporate secretary, focusing on all aspects of the company’s legal and regulatory affairs. Walsh has served as a director on the board of Corebridge Financial since September 2022.
Prior to Stripe, Walsh served as executive vice president and chief legal officer of Voya Financial. Before Voya Financial, Walsh served as deputy general counsel at Cigna Corporation and at MassMutual Life Insurance Company. She was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and also worked for the Office of the general counsel at the SEC.
