Allianz appoints new heads for Germany, Italy after resignation

Allianz said on Sept. 19 that the supervisory board of its German unit named Klaus-Peter Röhler CEO of the German operations, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

Röhler succeeds Manfred Knof who will step down by the end of the year. A spokesman for the insurance giant had previously said that Knof was stepping down for health reasons.

It was mutually agreed to follow Manfred Knof’s request and to relieve him of his position as CEO of Allianz Deutschland effective December 31, 2017, according to a company statement. Until then, Manfred will help to ensure a smooth leadership transition. After that, he will take some time off for health reasons.

Knof’s successor Röhler has been CEO of Allianz Italia since 2014, a post he assumed after serving as CEO of Allianz Suisse for two years. He started his career at Allianz in 1996.

To replace Röhler in Italy, the Allianz Italia board of directors decided to appoint Giacomo Campora as CEO of the unit as of Jan. 1, 2018. Currently, Giacomo Campora is general manager in charge of market and distribution at Allianz Italia and CEO of Allianz Bank Financial Advisors.
