Allianz poaches new head of property from Everest Re

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has named Maria Grace as global head of property.

She succeeds Thierry Portevin, who has been appointed to lead AGCS’s global risk consulting team.

Grace has over 23 years of commercial underwriting and claims experience. She joins AGCS from Everest Re Group, where she served as the chief underwriting officer for property and inland marine for the insurance business. Before that she held various executive and managerial roles at Starr Companies, AIG North America and AIG’s Latin American and Caribbean division.

Grace reports directly to Tony Buckle, chief underwriting officer for corporate. She is currently based in the US but will relocate to AGCS’s headquarters in Munich in the coming months.

Buckle said: “[Grace] has wide experience in both underwriting and claims and a proven track record in terms of both technical excellence and profitable growth across the market cycle. We will all benefit from her experience and energy as we take corporate property forward and make the most of current market opportunities globally.”
