Antares taps new head of reinsurance to navigate challenging market
Antares, the international operations of Qatar Insurance Group (QIC), including its reinsurance and Lloyd’s insurance arms and wholly owned subsidiaries, has tapped a new reinsurance leader to help navigate the challenges presented by current market conditions.
Antares Managing Agency has appointed Eddie Hughes (Pictured) to head of reinsurance, Antares at Lloyd’s, comprising Antares Managing Agency and Antares Syndicate 1274, effective immediately.
Hughes brings more than 17 years of experience to the role and will report to Jim Lye, active underwriter, Antares Managing Agency. He previously served as class underwriter, marine and energy reinsurance, having joined Antares in 2014 as marine excess of loss deputy underwriter.
Hughes’ appointment follows a series of recent key leadership moves for the Syndicate, following the hires of Guy Wright as marine liability class underwriter, and Samantha Dias as management & transaction liability class underwriter.
