Aon merges construction and inland marine groups in growth strategy

Re/insurance broker Aon is merging its construction & engineering and inland marine teams into a single global unit within its reinsurance solutions business, in a move it hopes will enhance its growth opportunities.

According to the firm, the combination of teams will enable it to appropriately resource the business and capitalise on best practice. The initiative follows the recent launch of other Aon global practice groups, including cyber and life.

The unit, called Global Construction & Inland Marine practice group, will be led by Jonathan Conway, who worked for Gen Re for over 20 years, growing the firm’s construction and engineering portfolio. Prior to joining Aon in 2019, he worked at Willis in the UK property team from 2014-2018.

Nick Frankland, UK chief executive officer of Aon’s reinsurance solutions business, said: “This initiative is about bringing the best of our experts together to deliver enhanced revenue growth and service to clients in the Construction & Engineering and Inland Marine specialist sectors through a single, integrated practice group that supports account executives globally. The move highlights the continuing commitment of Aon to this important sector.”
