Aon names US commercial risk broking head

Aon has appointed Brian Wanat as chief broking officer of US commercial risk solutions.

Wanat will have direct management responsibility for financial services group, national property, national casualty, aviation, crisis management, marine and Aon’s global risk consulting group. He will work closely with Tom Fitzgerald, CEO Aon Broking, and the Aon Broking executive committee to ensure the US broking strategy is aligned with global objectives.

Wanat will also be responsible for setting best practices for commercial broking across Aon’s field organization, and will work closely with Theresa Bourdon, national industry practice leader, to execute broking strategy across industry practice groups.

“Building a coordinated broking organization – one that drives value to clients, and leads the industry with innovation, thought leadership and data and analytics – is the pinnacle of our best-in-class broking strategy,” said Lori Goltermann, CEO US commercial risk & health.

“The experience and leadership Brian brings to the table will undoubtedly bring this strategy to life, and drive innovation and the use of data and analytics to achieve results for clients.”

Wanat most recently served as CEO of Aon’s financial services group. He brings more than 25 years of experience in insurance underwriting and broking to his new role, having spent time at both AIG and CNA. He will continue to be based in New York and remain a member of the US commercial risk & health executive committee, reporting to Goltermann.
