Ardonagh forges Dutch powerhouse with HNW broker acquisition
UK insurance intermediary Ardonagh Group has completed its acquisition of high-net-worth broker Classicus, as it builds on its specialist capabilities and platform for growth in The Netherlands and across Europe.
Headquartered in Amsterdam, Classicus provides a range of specialist high net worth products for classic and luxury cars, yachts, art collections together with other specialist high-net-worth products. Its businesses also include wholesale broker, Classicus Europe and London-based Classicus, which comprises the firm’s non-EU wholesale business.
Classicus will operate within Ardonagh Europe, part of Ardonagh’s International platform, complementing its existing Dutch business, global brokerage Léons, an ultra-high-net-worth broker in The Netherlands, leading to a closer collaboration between both companies.
Together with Ardonagh’s recent acquisition of Klap Verzekeringsmakelaar, an independent, specialist commercial and personal lines broker based in Amsterdam, Ardonagh is building a comprehensive portfolio of businesses that offer a suite of complementary solutions to their Dutch customers.
Conor Brennan, CEO Ardonagh Europe said: “Classicus is a real specialist and leader in the high-net-worth insurance market with a wealth of experience within the team. We’re excited about the potential to support their growth with both commercial and consumer clients, by extending their product distribution even more widely across the market.
“The synergies between our Dutch entities will trigger a dynamic force, trading from high-net-worth to corporate and SME, as we continue to build our local powerhouse with the best talent and services available.
Sunny Leons, CEO of the Léons Group said: “After years as a valued Brokerslink network affiliate, we are pleased to welcome Classicus as part of The Ardonagh Group and look forward to working with them to harness their unique worth as we continue to grow our local and European offering.”
Bart-Jan Kastrop, founder and managing director of Classicus said: “We remain committed to our existing customers as we enhance our business proposition and are excited to join forces with Léons and the wider Ardonagh Group as we develop our bespoke and niche concept across new territories and partners.”
