Argenta hires engineering & construction lead from Ensurance UK
Argenta Syndicate Management (ASML), a subsidiary of Argenta Holdings, has recruited an Ensurance executive to lead its engineering & construction business.
Philip Hancock (pictured) has been appointed as head of engineering and construction. Based in London, he will report to Barney Smythe, deputy active underwriter and head of specialty.
In his new role, Hancock will be responsible for leading Argenta’s global engineering and construction business while overseeing its underwriting and business development.
Hancock has amassed close to three decades’ experience of engineering and construction insurance in the London market. He joins Argenta from Ensurance UK where he was head of underwriting and international engineering. Prior to that, he was an underwriter at WISE Underwriting Agency, and before that he held the role of head of engineering, London, at Brit Syndicate 2987. He has also held senior underwriting positions at Montpelier Syndicate 5151, TSM Syndicate 1110 (latterly ProSight), Navigators Syndicate 1221, AIG Europe, Copenhagen Re and SCOR UK.
Smythe said: “The engineering and construction industries have faced a number of challenges over recent years. Remaining at the forefront of these evolving risks is vital as we continue to deliver on our vision for our partners and clients. Having the right talent in place is central to our strategy and Philip’s significant UK and international underwriting experience, alongside his understanding of the technical issues faced by our clients, strongly positions our business for the next stage of development and growth.”
