Argo Group taps AIG exec to head Europe and Asia operations

Bermuda-based re/insurer Argo Group International Holdings has appointed Matt Harris to lead the company’s Europe and Asia operations. He will report to Jose Hernandez, head of international.

Harris most recently led AIG’s country operations in South East Asia. Previously, he was CEO of AIG Malaysia Insurance and CEO of AIG New Zealand. Prior to joining AIG, Harris served as chief representative for Insurance Australia Group in Mumbai, India.

"Matt has a wealth of industry experience and a broad set of skills that fully align with Argo’s ambitions," said Argo Group CEO Mark Watson III. "His appointment is the latest step in positioning our company to execute our international growth strategy."

Hernandez added: "Matt has demonstrated experience in the European and Asian markets and a strong understanding of industry best practices. His depth of market knowledge and array of local contacts will be invaluable in helping Argo realise its ambitions across these regions."
