ArgoGlobal poaches Endurance head for marine team

Lloyd’s insurer ArgoGlobal has appointed Michael Thompson as hull class underwriter. He will report to head of marine Steve O’Gorman.

Thompson joins ArgoGlobal from Endurance Syndicate 5151, where he was the head of hull and liability underwriting, tasked with the launch and development of its marine portfolio.

He has over three decades of experience in the marine sector. Prior to Endurance, Thompson worked at Swiss Re as senior hull and liability underwriter, and ACE London Syndicate 483 as assistant marine underwriter. He has also served on the Joint Hull Committee and chairs the Navigating Limits Subcommittee.

Steve O’Gorman said: “There are clear opportunities for ArgoGlobal in the marine hull sector. Michael is a recognised expert in this market and has the expertise, track record and experience to realise the advantages conferred by our Group structure and international offices.

“We will continue to strengthen our presence in the marine hull market by developing closer synergies with our international network and enhancing our specialist products to reflect clients’ needs.

“Michael is the ideal candidate to fulfill our ambitions for this class and I am very pleased to welcome him to the team.”
