AXA XL names new CUO of international financial lines

AXA XL Insurance has tapped an insider, formerly of AIG and Liberty, to oversee the management of its financial lines portfolio in Asia Pacific and Europe.

Ana Dores (pictured) has been promoted to chief underwriting officer, international financial lines, APAC & Europe. Her appointment is effective as of September 1 and she will be based in Madrid.

In her new role, Dores will work closely with local underwriting teams and be responsible for the underwriting strategy for professional indemnity, management liability, financial institutions, cyber and mergers & acquisitions in Europe, Asia and Australia.

Dores has 17 years of experience in financial lines underwriting. She started her career with AIG Europe first in Portugal as a financial lines underwriter and then in Madrid as a professional indemnity underwriter. She then worked at Liberty Specialty Markets as a senior underwriter before joining  AXA XL in 2014, where she has been leading the international financial lines for Iberia since 2017.

Etienne Champion, chief underwriting officer of APAC & Europe, said: “Ana is a respected member of our financial lines business. She has a wealth of knowledge across our product suite and has built a solid reputation within the team since joining  AXA XL in 2014. She is well poised to help us deliver on our goals as we look to continue supporting our clients and profitably grow our portfolio.”
