AXIS taps Western World exec to lead primary casualty in US
AXIS Insurance, part of Bermuda-based AXIS Capital Holdings, has appointed James DeSimone as senior vice president to lead its primary casualty business in the US Northeast and Midwest regions.
Based out of AXIS’ New York office, DeSimone will report to Janet Jordan-Foster, executive vice president, primary casualty.
DeSimone most recently served as a senior vice president at Western World Insurance, where he was responsible for the primary casualty and professional lines brokerage units.
Prior to Western World, he held various underwriting and management roles and responsibilities with Zurich North America, Continental/CNA Insurance and AIG.
"Jim brings a wealth of underwriting knowledge and talent, as well as great broker and distribution relationships, which support our growth and distribution strategies," Foster commented. "He has a proven track record of successfully and profitably working with wholesale brokers across the US, and he will be a key leader as we continue to grow and expand our Primary Casualty business."
AXIS Insurance stated that it is placing a strategic emphasis on wholesale brokers and is building out a seasoned management team to lead those broker relationships.
