Barbican swoops for Swiss Re senior underwriter

Barbican Insurance Group has hired a senior underwriter from Swiss Re for a managerial role in its healthcare division.

Healthcare underwriting manager James Barrett joins Barbican with over a decade of experience in the US and international markets. Most recently, Barrett was a senior underwriter in the healthcare (products and global markets) team and vice president at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, having joined the firm in 2011. Prior to that, he worked at Chaucer Syndicates in the institutional healthcare liability team as an assistant underwriter.

Ondine Bourrut-Lacouture, divisional head of accident, casualty and healthcare, said: “James is a highly experienced and respected underwriter in the healthcare arena. He combines excellent technical abilities with strong business acumen and portfolio management. We are delighted he has agreed to lead our healthcare team.”
