Berkshire’s BHSI nabs energy and construction leader from Allianz AGCS
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, has nabbed an energy and construction leader from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) to further expand its capabilities in these sectors.
BHSI has hired Ana Fuertes (pictured) as head of energy and construction in Spain.
Fuertes comes to BHSI with 20 years of insurance industry experience. Her career has included several leadership roles in construction, energy and technical lines at other global insurers in Spain.
Most recently, she served as global practice group leader - power, at AGCS. In her more than eight year long career at Allianz, Fuertes held various leadership roles, including underwriting leader energy and construction. Prior to joining AGCS, she worked as senior underwriter technical lines Iberia at Chubb (then ACE Group).
In Spain, BHSI underwrites single projects as well as annual contractor works and provides CAT-only capacity for construction customers. Coverages for energy and power generation customers include all risk property damage and business interruption, machinery breakdown, and property CAT insurance.
