Brit Global Specialty USA hires cyber specialist from AIG

Global specialty re/insurer Brit has appointed Douglas Ruhlman as assistant vice president, cyber for Brit Global Specialty USA (BGSU).

Ruhlman will join BGSU’s successful Cyber & Technology team, reporting to Jeff Norton, senior vice president, cyber liability. Ruhlman will work closely with Norton to support the underwriting and growth of Brit’s US cyber portfolio.

Ruhlman comes to Brit from AIG, where he was a commercial underwriter, financial lines with a focus on large cyber accounts. He began his career at AIG as an account analyst.

This hire follows the appointments of Jim Patterson as vice president, cyber & technology and Ryan Mimmo as vice president, cyber & technology for BGSU in July 2019.

Nick Davies, president, Brit Americas, commented: “Cyber is an important growth area for Brit, both globally and here in the US, and I am encouraged by the outstanding team we have built to support this expansion. In the last few months we have made a number of strong hires while also launching our e-trading portal for cyber risks. Together, this is a demonstration of our focus on combining underwriting expertise with service excellence.”
