Brit poaches Aspen underwriter into excess casualty role
Brit has hired Aspen Insurance’s vice president, primary casualty, to the role of senior vice president, excess casualty, its unit for Brit Global Specialty USA.
Jonathan Liening will be based in Chicago and report to Douglas Trainor. He will focus on writing excess casualty through wholesale intermediaries.
Liening had worked at Aspen Insurance since January 2013. He began his career at Travelers Insurance, where he underwrote excess and surplus business for accounts of all sizes.
Nick Davies, president, Brit Global Specialty Americas, said: “Jonathan represents another strategic hire for BGSU as we continue to expand our platform in the US. With over a decade of experience in the casualty space, Jonathan will add a significant amount of expertise to our offering, complementing our existing US-based primary General Liability team.”
