Charles Taylor unveils swathe of hires for US marine expansion

Insurance services firm Charles Taylor has expanded its marine team with the addition of five marine surveyors and a global operations manager.

Senior marine surveyors John Poulson, Sean Murphy, Glenn Walker, Peter Poulson, and operations manager Lillian Aquilia will join Charles Taylor Marine Technical Services to help expand its US footprint and deepen its expertise in all areas of marine surveying. They will operate from Charles Taylor offices in New York, Boston, Savannah and San Francisco.

A senior technical director will be joining the team in the UK at the end of July. His expertise spans sea-going engineering, technical and project management, surveying and casualty investigations for hull & machinery underwriters, P&I Clubs and third-party marine interests.

Charles Taylor Marine Technical Services provides marine and cargo surveying and consulting services to assist vessel owners, specialty reinsurers and insurance underwriters, and other maritime interests.

"The addition of these highly qualified marine professionals brings decades of hands-on and institutional experience to our growing team. We’re excited to lead the market in the evolution of surveying with the use of technology and efficient processes built upon unsurpassed industry knowledge,” said Kuhrt Wieneke, president of Charles Taylor Marine Technical Services – US.

Oliver Hutchings, managing director, Charles Taylor Marine, added: “The US expansion is a critical building block that reinforces our commitment to creating a unified, global marine surveying structure to support maritime clients and their assets worldwide.”
