Lloyd’s insurer Chaucer has expanded its marine practice with the addition of Lonham Insurance Underwriters, a specialist cargo and freight liability underwriting team.
According to Chaucer, Lonham’s expertise and capabilities will enhance the speciality product capabilities of Syndicate 1084’s marine practice.
“It also will provide Lonham with additional resources to develop the business, and to pursue and capitalise on new growth opportunities,” said the Lloyd’s insurer.
Established in 1983, the Lonham team is led by its founders Mike Ayres, Nick Hamer, Christine Midwood and Diane Stannard.
Andrew Voke, head of marine at Chaucer, said: "We are delighted to welcome the Lonham team to Chaucer. We have admired the business that the Lonham team has built for a long time, and we look forward to providing them with the support and tools required to accelerate their already impressive development.”
Mike Ayres, underwriting director of Lonham, added: "We look forward to joining Chaucer, and to increasing our current business offering through its market leading marine division. This exciting development provides an excellent platform for future growth."
