Chubb creates new positions in middle market broker segment

Property/casualty insurer Chubb has appointed Hannah Hosking and Steve Bear within its middle market independent broker segment.

Based in Birmingham, Hosking has been named the head of distribution – independent brokers UK&Ireland. She will play a pivotal role in delivering Chubb’s business strategy into the broker and customer community while overseeing the UK&Ireland business development managers who focus on independent brokers.

Prior to Chubb, Hosking worked at Hiscox Insurance where she most recently held the role of regional manager for the Maidenhead region. She has 15 years of insurance industry experience and has also formerly held posts at Axa Insurance and Aon.

Hosking will report to Sara Mitchell, head of corporate division, UK&I.

Mitchell said: "Hannah’s valuable industry expertise will help us to continue to deliver and grow with our important panel of Independent brokers in the UK&I and execute Chubb’s Multiline business strategy into the Independent Broker community through structured sales and distribution."

Bear has been appointed to the newly-created role of independent broker team manager – London corporate. Bear will be responsible for driving financial results across London within this independent broker group, with direct line management responsibility for Chubb’s core lines of business including property, casualty, combined package and financial lines.

Bear joined Chubb in 2009 as a financial lines Underwriter in the Watford office before moving to London in 2011 and joining the financial lines Corporate team. Since 2011, Bear has had management responsibility for the middle-market financial lines directors and officers’ liability insurance (D&O) portfolio. Prior to this, he worked as a financial lines underwriter at AIG.

Bear will report to Emma Bartolo, corporate regional manager – London.

Bartolo commented: "This appointment is testament to our commitment to developing strong relationships with our independent brokers in London, and ensuring that our sales and distribution model is strongly aligned with our underwriting capability and product offering. Steve’s role will ensure that underwriting service delivery and day to day trading with our important independent brokers, is consistent and relevant."
