CII appoints new COO

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has appointed John Bissell as its chief operating officer (COO) and added him to its board of directors.

In his new role at the CII, Bissell will be responsible for business operations, customer service, IT, finance and facilities functions. He will also be a key contributor to the delivery of the CII’s recently launched Strategic Manifesto – 2021 Roadmap.

Bissell has served the Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD) as senior vice president of global operations since December 2014.

CII chief executive Sian Fisher, said: “John offers the CII a wealth of international, IT and customer engagement experience and I am thrilled that he has decided to join us at such an important time for both the insurance profession and its professional body.”

“As we embark on our change programme over the next five years, John will play an important role in helping the executive team evolve the CII into the relevant, modern and diverse organisation, which such a fast-changing profession requires.”
