Clyde & Co promotes seven women partners in diversity push
Insurance-focused law firm Clyde & Co has promoted an equal number of men and women equity partners across its international network, to promote greater diversity across the firm.
Of the total 13 promotions, seven are women. Six of the new partners are based outside the UK, three in North America, two in continental Europe and one in Asia Pacific (APAC).
In the UK, Karen Elliott, Niya Phiri and Stuart Maleno have been promoted in its insurance practice, spread across the firm's London, Manchester and Guildford offices.
Peter Hirst, Clyde & Co's senior partner, said: "We are proud to be able to promote such a talented and diverse cohort of new partners this year. Each of the partners has made significant contributions to the firm during their careers here and they all demonstrate the collaborative mind-set and focus on market-leading levels of client service that we expect from our partners across the world.
"Achieving much greater diversity in all respects across our firm is a key priority for us so it is particularly pleasing to see such a high proportion of women in this year's cohort."
Hirst added: "With all businesses facing unprecedented disruption in the immediate term as a result of COVID-19, it's crucial that we all stay focused on the long term health of the firm. Training, nurturing and promoting our people is fundamentally important for us and, now more than ever, our annual partner promotions round is a good chance to celebrate the talent we have at our disposal as we help our clients navigate these uncertain times."
