CNA combines affinity and MGAs to form a new unit

US-based commercial insurance provider CNA has created a new, centralised affinity programmes unit within CNA Specialty to build on the company's expertise in affinity and delegated underwriting programmes.

The new unit includes CNA's underwriting services for accountants, architects and engineers (A&E), community associations, dentists, law firms and legal services, nurses, real estate and wholesalers.

The new unit will be led by John Brand, senior vice president of Specialty Underwriting.

"John's success working with CNA's managing general underwriters (MGUs) partners and programme managers makes him the ideal leader to bring together CNA's expertise in program management," said Kevin Smith, president and chief operating officer of CNA Specialty.

"Establishing a centralized Affinity Programs unit demonstrates CNA's commitment to bringing specialization to managing these types of business insurance programs and better aligns the expertise of our team with the needs of our customers."
