Compre snags R&Q talent to expand in North American legacy market

Specialist legacy acquirer Compre has appointed R&Q's Anson Aguiar as chief underwriting officer (CUO) of Pallas Reinsurance Company, as newly-launched class 3A Bermudian reinsurer.

The new hire will play a key role in Compre’s development in the North American legacy market. He brings 14 years’ experience in the US casualty market, having spent much of his career at AIG.

Aguiar joins Pallas Re from Randall & Quilter Investment Holdings, where he served as senior vice president, legacy M&A.

The company has also announced the completion of its first US transaction that involves a ground-up loss portfolio transfer for risks underwritten in the last two years. TigerRisk acted as broker for the transaction.

Will Bridger, chief executive of Compre, said: “I am delighted to announce these strategic milestones for Compre and particularly our Bermudian reinsurer, Pallas Re. We are extremely well positioned to continue to grow our North American business at an exciting time for the market. With extensive US casualty experience, Anson will be a tremendous asset in spearheading Compre’s development in North America and bringing our highly credible and client-centric proposition to this important market.”
