Convex hires co-head of political risks and credit from Chubb

Specialty re/ insurer Convex Group, formed by industry veterans Stephen Catlin and Paul Brand in 2019, has hired Chubb's Murray Ross to co-lead its political risks team alongside Navaid Farooq.

The team will write credit and contract frustration risks for policy periods up to 10.5 years and political risks up to 15 years.

Ross has worked in the London insurance market for over 20 years, specialising in the political risk and credit sector. He joins Convex from Chubb (ACE European Group), where he worked from 2003 to 2020 and was head of political risks and credit Europe. Prior to joining ACE, he worked at Marsh as a broker from 2000 to 2003.

Farooq joined Convex in April 2020. Prior to joining Catlin in 2008, he worked at Zurich Financial Services. At Catlin, he led the credit and political risks team until 2015. From 2016 to 2020 Farooq was the managing director at Anvil Underwriting, a MGA that solely wrote political risk and credit and contract frustration risks.

Convex said it will continue to build the political risk and credit team over the coming months.
