Convex picks Neon boss Butt as UK chief; Paskin named Convex Re CEO
Specialty re/ insurer Convex Group, formed by industry veterans Stephen Catlin and Paul Brand in 2019, has appointed former Neon boss Theo Butt as CEO of London-based Convex Insurance UK and named Matt Paskin as CEO of Convex Re in Bermuda.
Both of these positions were previously held by co-founder and group deputy CEO Brand. Brand will remain on the board of Convex, Convex Re and Convex Insurance UK.
Butt has over 20 years’ experience in the London market, most recently as CEO of Neon Underwriting, having joined from Ascot, where he spent over 12 years in multiple roles latterly as head of non-marine within their executive underwriting team. He has also held a variety of roles at Marsh and JLT. Butt joined Convex as a consultant in April 2020 to lead a number of special projects within the business.
Paskin has over 35 years of industry experience and has been group chief underwriting officer reinsurance since Convex launched in May 2019, a role he will retain. He was previously CUO of XL Catlin Re, having joined Catlin in 1993 as a class underwriter and held multiple roles during his career there. Prior to Catlin, he held roles at the EF Williams Syndicate.
