Dutch insurer NN Group has confirmed that it has made an offer to acquire part of MetLife’s businesses in Europe.
The move is in line with the company's strategy to consolidate its positions in attractive growth markets in which it is already active, NN Group said in a statement.
MetLife Europe is an Irish incorporated entity domiciled in Ireland and is authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) to transact life assurance business in the European Union. Its ultimate parent company MetLife is domiciled in the US.
MetLife Europe has branches in the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Cyprus and Romania, and also operates via Freedom of Service (FOS) in Poland, Greece, Norway, Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. The company reinsures business from Russia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
