Former UK prime minister to speak at FIDES Rio 2023
Former UK prime minister Tony Blair has joined the team of international speakers confirmed for the 38th FIDES Western Hemisphere Insurance Conference in Brazil.
FIDES 2023 will be held in Rio de Janeiro from September 24 to 26. The event will see representatives of private insurance sector organisations from more than 40 countries.
Blair was the prime minister of the UK from 1997 to 2007, becoming the only Labour leader in the party’s 100-year history to win three consecutive general elections. During his time in Downing Street, Blair implemented a major domestic reform agenda. The education and health sectors were transformed through record investment and reform.
In his post-prime ministerial life, Blair has remained at the forefront of world affairs. Over the past decade, he has focused on addressing critical global challenges, including supporting African governments and their leaders so that they can effectively serve their people and working toward peace in the Middle East as a representative of the “Quartet” (composed of the United Nations, European Union, United States and Russia).
The conference is held every two years by the Inter-American Federation of Insurance Companies (FIDES), a nonprofit umbrella organisation for private insurance trade associations in 20 countries, including CNseg (one of its founders) in Brazil.
