Generali appoints Asia head of financial lines underwriting from LSM

Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C), a part of Italian insurer Generali Group, has appointed Zaid Alami as head of financial lines underwriting Asia.

Based in Generali's regional hub in Hong Kong, Alami will be responsible for leading the financial lines business across the region.

Alami has nearly a decade of underwriting experience, particularly in financial lines and liability. Before joining Generali Global Corporate & Commercial Asia, he was the assistant vice president at Liberty Specialty Markets MENA, heading up financial lines and responsible for the portfolio across the Middle East, Turkey and Africa.

Axel Roesner, head of Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) Asia, said: “We are delighted to welcome Zaid to our team, taking over the Head of Financial Lines position from Brendan McDonald who was recently promoted to Head of Underwriting Asia. Zaid’s appointment reflects our dedication to further accelerate profitable growth in the Asian market and to provide high-quality underwriting expertise to clients and brokers. I am sure that Zaid will strongly contribute to supporting our clients on the changes they are currently facing in the new environment and helping their business succeed.”

Alami commented: “I am thrilled to be part of the Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) team and to join the expanding Financial Lines business in such an exciting and dynamic region. With the team’s extensive experience and underwriting expertise, I am confident that we are well equipped to support our clients and brokers during these difficult times."
