Global Indemnity redomiciles to the Cayman Islands

Specialty insurer Global Indemnity has completed its redomestication from Ireland to the Cayman Islands.

Plans of this redomestication had been announced in June, following a unanimous decision from the group’s board of directors.

Global Indemnity’s rationale behind the move was due to The Cayman Islands’ “business friendly regulatory environment and a predictable legal framework that simultaneously provides both corporate certainty and shareholder protections, presents a flexible and stable legal and corporate governance framework.”

Global Indemnity, through its re/insurance subsidiaries, provides specialty property/casualty insurance coverage in the US, as well as international reinsurance.
