Hardy appoints casualty head from QBE
Lloyd’s insurer Hardy Underwriting has appointed Craig Bennett, formerly of QBE, as head of casualty underwriting as it moves into the casualty sector.
Bennett will develop and execute a casualty strategy for Hardy, primarily focused on UK and international risks.
He has 28 years of industry experience and most recently served as director of casualty and motor for QBE European operations where he was responsible for the ongoing development of a portfolio of casualty and motor business and managed a team of over 100 underwriting and support staff.
Prior to that, he served as head of UK & Ireland, QBE Insurance and as underwriter, QBE Syndicate 386.
David Brosnan, chief executive of Hardy, said: “This is very exciting news for Hardy as we move into the casualty arena. Diversifying our book will drive profitable growth as we continue to build our brand globally.”
Patrick Gage, director of underwriting at Hardy, said: “Craig’s extensive underwriting and leadership experience, coupled with an excellent market following makes him a tremendous asset for our team.”
