Hiscox appoints NA head of business development from Lloyd’s

Specialist global insurer Hiscox has appointed Glenn Dorr as head of business development and broker relationships, North America, within its London Market business.

Dorr joins Hiscox from Lloyd’s USA, where he was responsible for managing cover holder and broker relationships for the North East Region based in Boston. With over 20 years’ experience in the US insurance market, Dorr has a strong track record of growing and developing an insurance business organically. Prior to Lloyd’s, Dorr held business development roles at HCC Specialty, BISYS Specialty Markets and Aon Consulting.

Dorr will be based in Boston and work closely with the underwriting teams on both sides of the Atlantic on surplus lines business. He will be focused on helping to drive expansion in Hiscox specialty lines such as US flood and property binders, where Hiscox sees significant growth opportunities.

Paul Lawrence, Hiscox London Market’s chief underwriting officer, said: “Glenn is an excellent addition to our business development team.  His knowledge of the US cover holder distribution network and deep understanding of the big-ticket Lloyd’s insurance business make him the ideal person to help us achieve our 2018 business plan.”
