IAT Insurance taps ex-Liberty to boost excess casualty unit

IAT Insurance Group, a provider of specialty property/casualty and surety products, has hired a former Liberty underwriter for its excess casualty portfolio.

Sean McPhillips (pictured) joins  IAT as vice president, excess casualty.

He has more than 30 years of underwriting experience in the excess and surplus casualty marketplace dedicated to underwriting of primary and excess casualty. He comes to  IAT after serving as senior vice president, specialty construction market for Vela Insurance.

Earlier in his career, McPhillips held underwriting and leadership roles with Liberty International Underwriters, CNA E&S and Aspen.
