IFG appoints underwriting manager for renewable centre

US property and casualty (P&C) insurance provider IFG Companies has appointed Geoffrey Smith as underwriting manager of its nationwide commercial underwriting renewal centre.

Smith will be tasked with managing the efficiency and effectiveness of the commercial renewal centre as well as having a senior leadership role across IFG's casualty underwriting operations in its Hartford office.

Smith joins IFG from Union Mutual of Vermont, where he served as director of underwriting for its commercial and personal lines. He has nearly almost three decades of insurance and reinsurance underwriting expertise that focused on excess casualty and specialty lines.

Bob Linton, chairman of IFG Companies, said: "In 2015, we established a national processing centre to streamline and facilitate our commercial underwriting renewal processing, in part to make it easier for our producers to work with IFG.

“We are very pleased to have Geoff join IFG and bring his deep casualty underwriting expertise, together with strong leadership and management capabilities, to oversee our renewal centre and Hartford underwriting.”
