Insurance Council of Australia adds Zurich, Allianz execs to board

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has strengthened its board with the appointment of two new directors.

Tim Plant, CEO general insurance at Zurich Financial Services Australia, and John Myler, CEO insurance at the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland.

Myler was previously chief market manager of Allianz Australia, and before that CEO Australia & New Zealand at Allianz Global Assistance.

ICA executive director and CEO Rob Whelan said: “Tim and John have a combined 45 years of insurance industry experience.

“John has held executive roles at Allianz, Customer Essential and Royal & Sun Alliance.

“Tim’s experience crosses insurance, reinsurance and financial services. Tim is also a director of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

“The ICA Board is looking forward to utilising their expertise, knowledge and perspective to help shape the ICA’s response to the regulatory, political and climate change challenges facing the insurance industry.”
