Insurance Europe picks Eurolife CEO as vice president

Insurance Europe, the European insurance and reinsurance federation, has elected the chair and chief executive of Eurolife, and formerly of Allianz Greece, as its new vice president.

Alexander Sarrigeorgiou (Pictured) succeeds Sandro Panizza, who left the position in October 2022. His mandate will run until June 2025.

Sarrigeorgiou has led Eurolife for 18 years, and before this was CEO of Allianz Insurance in Greece. He also chairs the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies, and has held the position since 2018.

Insurance Europe’s president, Andreas Brandstetter, CEO & chair of UNIQA Insurance Group, said: “I am delighted to congratulate Alexander on his appointment. His significant industry experience will add great value to our advocacy in the years ahead.”

Sarrigeorgiou commented: “I am honoured to have been elected Insurance Europe’s vice president. Our world faces many challenges, and insurers are well placed to support our societies and economies via their roles as protectors and long-term investors. I therefore look forward to working with my colleagues to represent our industry in the legislative discussions that will shape our ability to continue making these important contributions.”
