Insurers: Major investors in Malta

Insurers are a major investor in the Maltese stock market, carrying on the tradition of companies - and even individuals – on the island investing in other local firms and stocks.

This is according to Eileen Muscat, chief executive of the Malta Stock Exchange.

“Insurers are certainly very active institutional investors in the Malta Stock Exchange,” she says.

“Their participation is also growing, but at a measured pace.”
