Lancashire appoints portfolio manager

Lancashire Holdings has appointed Mathieu Marsan as portfolio manager & actuary of the Bermuda-based Lancashire Capital Management (LCM) division.

Marsan has more than 13 years of insurance and investment experience; spending the last six years with Pentelia Capital Management (Bermuda), an insurance-linked securities fund, managing catastrophe bonds, industry loss warranties and collateralised reinsurance.

His duties included risk modelling, portfolio construction and management of all ILS asset classes.

Prior to that, he served as an insurance derivatives trader for Ritchie Capital Management (Bermuda) and before that, as an actuarial advisor for Desjardins Financial Security.

“I am delighted that Mathieu is joining us With his strong actuarial background and fund management experience, he is a great addition to our team and will be very helpful in meeting our third party capital strategic objectives,” said Darren Redhead, head of LCM.

Commenting on his appointment, Marsan said: “I am really excited to be joining a company such as Lancashire which has an excellent track record, and has already proven that it can innovate in the ILS arena and manage third party capital. I look forward to working with Darren and the Lancashire team to help them manage and further develop the capital management division”.

Marsan’s appointment is subject to approval by the Bermuda Department of Immigration.

Lancashire, through its UK and Bermuda-based operating subsidiaries, is a global provider of specialty insurance and reinsurance products.
