Liberty International appoints SVP to lead new financial risk offering in US

Liberty International Underwriters (LIU), a part of Liberty Mutual, has added global financial risk (GFR) coverage to its US product offering with the appointment of Alexandre Egnell as senior vice president, responsible for the development and strategy of the product line.

Egnell will be based in New York, and report to chief underwriting officer for LIU US Michael Finnegan. For the new role, Egnell relocates from Paris where he led the GFR team for Liberty Specialty Markets in Europe since 2010. He also managed the development and roll-out of Liberty's specialty trade credit, contract frustration, political risk, and bank products in Continental Europe.

The company said that new GFR coverage will help protect against the varying and complex perils that arise from trade credit or political risk, such as expropriation or contract frustration.

Finnegan said: "Alex understands the complex financial risks businesses face worldwide. His recent experience working in Europe, combined with a previous 10-year assignment here in the US, illustrates our commitment to bringing global expertise to local markets."
