Liberty Mutual picks new chief underwriters for global risk business

Liberty Mutual Insurance has revealed two new underwriting leadership appointments within its global risk solutions business unit in North America.

Becca Sniderman (pictured right) and Toby Smith (pictured left) have been appointed as chief underwriting officers for casualty and specialty, respectively, for Global Risk Solutions (GRS) North America.

Sniderman has been with Liberty Mutual Insurance for 18 years, holding a variety of roles in actuarial, product and underwriting. She will be responsible for managing product development, product maintenance, pricing, and profitability for GRS casualty lines. She reports to Brandon Fick, chief underwriting officer, GRS North America.

Smith has been with Liberty Mutual Insurance for 14 years holding various roles in specialty lines, most recently leading GRS North America, casualty and environmental. He will be responsible for overseeing the underwriting strategy and portfolio management of the North America specialty lines of business. He reports jointly to GRS President, North America Specialty, Matt Dolan and Fick.

Fick said: “Becca's experience collaboratively managing growth and profitability of across various insurance lines and markets are keys to our success in Casualty lines.”

Dolan added: “As we continue to grow our GRS underwriting team it is vital to have a talented leader like Toby who drives results through experience and his expert knowledge of the industry.”
