Liberty Mutual Re appoints AXA's Jens Voges to new marine & energy underwriting role

Liberty Mutual Re, a part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Jens Voges as senior underwriter and product leader of marine & energy within its London market risks (LMR) team.

Liberty said it has created the new role to support its growth ambitions in the sector.

Voges joins the company from AXA, where he most recently worked as senior reinsurance specialist within AXA ART Insurance, responsible for organising the reinsurance cover for art insurance. Before that, he was at Liberty Specialty Markets as a reinsurance underwriter for over nine years.

Voges will be based at LM Re’s Cologne office and take up the role with immediate effect. He will be responsible for the underwriting and strategy of the LMR marine and energy reinsurance book.

Voges will report to Bernd Burelbach, underwriting manager, Liberty Mutual Re, Cologne, who said: “I am delighted that Jens has joined the team to further enhance our presence in the Marine and Energy Treaty classes. His experience and knowledge of the London Market will be invaluable for the continuous development of our business, while maintaining the highest service levels for our valued customers.”
