Lloyd's Channel Syndicate poaches active underwriter from Brit

Channel Syndicate 2015 at Lloyd’s has hired active underwriter Nick Forti from Brit syndicate 2988 as the company is looking to expand its London market profile as a specialist insurer.

Forti will directly report to Channel chief executive Stuart McMurdo.

Prior to his role as active underwriter, Forti was divisional underwriting director of the financial risks team at Syndicate 2988. Before joining Brit, he was a reinsurance broker with both Willis Re and Aon Benfield. His underwriting experience includes a range of specialist lines products with both insurance and reinsurance portfolio management experience.

The company also announced that Tom Corfield will remain chief underwriting officer of both Channel and SCOR’s specialty insurance London platform.

McMurdo said: “We are entering the next chapter of Channel’s development and our key objective is to increase our London profile as a specialist insurer within the boundaries of profitable growth. Nick is a great hire for Channel and I am delighted to welcome someone of his calibre to the team.

"He brings significant expertise on the specialist product side and his appointment crucially enables Tom to focus on the execution of our recently announced London specialty insurance platform initiative. It is an exciting time for Channel and SCOR’s specialty insurance London platform and I look forward to working with the executive and board to deliver on our strategy.”
