Lloyd’s insurer enters aviation market with ex-Marsh/Cincinnati hire

Lloyd’s specialty re/insurer  IQUW, which is backed by ERS Group, has confirmed the launch of a new aviation portfolio led by an experienced Marsh and Cincinnati underwriter.

Simon Herring will pilot IQUW’s aviation launch with immediate effect following approval from Lloyd’s.

In his role as lead aviation underwriter, Herring will be responsible for the new portfolio comprising a hull and liability account for second and third tier airlines and a general aviation account covering commercial fixed wing and rotor fleets. Both accounts will write business worldwide, excluding the US.

Herring is the latest in a long line of experienced underwriters to join IQUW. He has gained over 30 years of aviation experience at Murray Lawrence and Partners, Sedgwick/Marsh and Cincinnati Global, where he was head of aviation.

IQUW’s interim active underwriter David Message, said: “Simon joins IQUW with a wealth of experience and I am thrilled to welcome him to IQUW to launch our Aviation portfolio which continues to execute on our strategy to build a diverse, multi-line (re)insurance company that intelligently uses data to improve our decision making.”

Herring commented: “I am delighted to join IQUW to launch their new Aviation portfolio and am looking forward to quickly developing our proposition to become a lead market for brokers through 2022.”
