Lloyd’s insurer Trium lures ‘cyber star’ to build London presence
Trium Cyber, a Lloyd’s of London cyber insurance specialist that entered the market at the start of this year with backing from Pelican Ventures and third-party capital providers, has lured a high-profile underwriter from Aspen to build out its presence in London.
Amie Watson (pictured) has been appointed as head of international underwriting to establish Trium’s presence in London by building out the company’s international platform.
Watson most recently served as senior underwriter and deputy to the international technology and cyber risks team at Aspen. She began her insurance industry career at Lockton as a broker and advanced to associate director. She served at Willis as an account executive for the company, where she advised accounts, conducted claims analysis, researched market trends on emerging risks.
Watson previously served as a senior underwriter at Aviva, developing new business, and regularly liaising with and advising government regulators. She was also a senior underwriter at XL Catlin, where she developed PI and cyber for the Asian market. She worked at Liberty Mutual as a senior underwriter and deputy to the company’s strategic assets team, where she pioneered the development of technology PI as a line and helped create a rating tool.
Josh Ladeau, Trium’s CEO, said: “Amie is a well-known and highly regarded underwriter of cyber risk and an authority on contract wordings. Moreover, after several challenging overseas postings, she has proven herself to be an excellent leader and administrator whose talent and experience will help propel Trium into becoming a world player.”
Watson commented: “I’m happy to join such a highly experienced team with a proven track record. I especially look forward to building a data-led insurance company that can leverage new technologies to provide better outcomes for clients, brokers and stakeholders, unencumbered by legacy systems.”
